Bubba`s Shrimp Shack in Gloucester

Great place for fried seafood. It gets 5 stars for fast food seafood. It's not fine dining but it is not meant to be either. I will stop in if I want fresh fried seafood. You better be hungry because the portions are generous.

The fried flounder was great. The breading was excellent, didn't need the tartar sauce, didn't want to dull the flavor. Fried perfectly as well. The she crab soup, too much flour taste, and no hint of sherry. Generous amt of crab meat on top though. Will go back for the baskets.

The service is great and the food is great. Always enjoy going there.

The food has always been good, and staff is always friendly. Restaurant is clean. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5, is because every time we have come within the last year or so, the size of the fish filets have shrunk considerably in size. I will most likely not be going back. I can get more for my money and get even better service at another restaurant just a few doors down. (Just my opinion)

If you are craving seafood this is your place! My mother and I had dinner here last week and I had the best fried shrimp I’ve had in years. It was lightly breaded and fried just right so the shrimp had the perfect flavor. When you order a basket plan on getting a to go box because they give you a dozen large shrimp,fries,hush puppies,AND a side! I also could not believe something so good was so affordable. Atmosphere is casual which I liked and the crew working were pleasant. I can’t wait to get more delicious shrimp...or a crab cake......so many delicious options.

Stopped on impulse during covid- 19, they made of experience best ever since....best food and customer service so will come back!!

Catfish, shrimp and macaroni and cheese were good. Nice people that work here. Google maps took me behind the shopping center and then had to go through a back entrance (dirt/muddy road with a big dip in the road).

Excellent salt life fare served piping hot from the kitchen! The hick-up: check your to-go order before you leave. They're 0-2 with us. Usually, they give us the wrong sides. Not a pleasant surprise on a $50+ purchase.

We ate here yesterday for the first time and I must say, it was awesome! It was the BEST catfish I've ever eaten. Servers were friendly and the the service was fast! We will definitely be back when we are in the area again!

My husband and I went there for Valentine's for the first time. Our meal was ok, nothing extra ordinary. I ordered scallop and shrimp basket and my husband ordered seafood platter. The shrimp, okra, cole slaw was delicious. The oysters had a fishy taste ( i know my oysters, not fresh)and the scallop was chewy. Catfish had no taste and watery. Prices was reasonable .The portions are generous so be hungry. The staff behind the counter was not friendly either.I heard so many good reviews and was excited to try them out. We were disappointed.

I've only gone there 3 times, but every time the food was very good. My only complaint is that their prices are a little high. Yesterday I got take-out & didn't want any sides, just the catfish I wanted & it was a reasonable price.

Bubba's is pretty decent. Walk up to the counter. Place your order then wait for someone to bring it to you. I had the scallop basket with Mac n cheese and fried okra. Food was hot and flavorful. Will go back again soon.

The food was so yummy 😋 😍 and the workers were great. We live in WV, so we look ford to going to VA for Good seafood.

First visit and loved it. So friendly in there, as would hopefully expect from a hometown spot. So much food in a basket that easily worth $11! The fried shrimp and catfish was amazing, including the hush puppies. Bonus, if you don't like slaw, pick another side as a replacement. Plenty of seating space inside.

There is no better seafood joint in the local area than Bubba's! Every menu item is always fresh & delicious. Preparation options. Meals or by-the-pound choices. Yummy sides. *BONUS* desserts too!Personable owner. Friendly staff. Clean dining area. Restrooms are always well-maintained. Two thumbs way, way up for Bubba's! (both locations!)

Great food decently priced. My only real quibble is during a pandemic they have stopped curbside service. Not sure why this decision was made especially with the amount of people who will go into this establishment and not wear a mask but I was lucky and there was only two people in the restaurant and I could get in and out quickly without risking exposure.

Not quite what I expected. It was more of a self service type of place. The food was delicious and the price was good. The amount I would have expected to pay. Even though I prefer to be waited on I will go back.

Fresh seafood delight! We had several different items, catfish, flounder, clam strips, shrimp. All fried food but done lightly and not greasy. The shrimp were nice size, plump & tasty! We also liked the hush puppies, slaw & baked beans. It' has great atmosphere, lots of tables and servers are very nice. Great gem! Beats high dollar restaurant any day!

Fresh, big shrimp, very light and tasty batter, same with the scallops. Mac and cheese ok. Really good hush puppies. Tables needed to be wiped off, but the woman behind the counter was extremely busy. Social distancing in place.I want to give them 5 stars for the shrimp and scallops alone, they were so good!

Bubba needs to change ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! This is probably the best seafood I've had anywhere! Don't be fooled by not many cars in front of the place if you go. When wife and I were there, there wasn't many cars there (in fact wondered if they were open) but there was a solid stream of people coming in and out with take out. If you are thinking seafood (the freshest) then this is a must stop. Very reasonable prices too.

You know when you live in a working waterman area and the waterman eat there, the seafood is top notch!!! And that they were voted one of the five best places in the state of Virginia to get fried catfish doesn't hurt either.... The She-crab soup is delicious!

Great food! The catfish was delicious and the shrimp were large. The coleslaw went with the food perfectly for my taste. The only not so good thing was that the person who delivered our meals to us had no enthusiasm and seemed to be annoyed by us. The woman behind the counter was very nice and helpful.

I went in on monday evening and mrs Kaylee brought our family our food, it was a bunch and she didn’t forget anything, she even brought us ketchup and salt/pepper without us needing to ask like we usually need to ask for when we go in and get other waitre(sses). She brought us all the correct amount of sauces and it worked out because i forgot to tell the cashier what we wanted wellthe food came quick, hot and was very delicious she was very nice, respectful, and courteous to us our entire meal was awesome because of mrs.Kaylee I will be back and will ask for kaylee to serve us next tome we come in

I had read great reviews about this place and my husband and I were going to be working in the area. So, thought we'd try it out. My husband had never had soft shell crab and wanted to try it. He didn't love it. My shrimp was excellent.The mac and cheese was a little different but good. I also had the green beans, took me by surprise how spicy they were..different but good. My husband would have hated them because he doesn't like spicy.The hush puppies were a tad doughy inside. I was glad they had malt vinegar to go with them.
